This is an absolutely beautiful fancy refinished dome top steamer trunk. The particular dimensions for this are 32 " length, 18 " width and 24" height. We started refinishing this particular trunk by taking off the old metal covering and all paper on the inside. After doing this we found a small crack in the wood where it shrunk from aging. We then replace a small strip of wood in that crack to complete the top- note picture above. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk, inside and out. After this, we applied 2 layers of tung oil to the trunk and tray. After lots of research on restoration, we have found that it is better to finish old wood with tung oil as it helps preserve the wood from drying and cracking from the inside out
