Beautiful antique sterling silver mistress match safe, circa 1896, made by Battin & Co. The front opens and reveals an original picture of a lady. The match safe has a gorgeous, very detailed, high relief floral pattern on the front and back of the match safe. The match safe is in overall excellent condition.
The match safe measures 2 5/8" by 1 3/8". The inside of the match safe is marked "Sterling 158 PAT. MARCH 31 1896" and the it looks like the Battin & Co. hallmark on the inside rim of the match safe. The tension rod is in place and functioning well, but the top and bottom have to be squeezed a little to completely closed. There are no splits, holes or repairs. There is only one tiny ding on the non monogram side of the match safe. This is a gorgeous and rare, antique match safe made by Battin & Co.
