Magnificent specimen, a more than 311 years old and 10.2kg heavy original Bible, year of publication 1708. This is a so-called Weimar or Elector's Bible of Endter-Verlag in Nuremberg. It is a rare edition and comes from the estate. Dimensions: 44cm long, 31cm wide and 12.5cm high.
The Bible has over 2000 leaves and over 100 different, sometimes very interesting pictures. Note: the two first and last two leaves / 4-pages are in much worse condition than any other leaves to book, many leaves also leather outside have some small woodworm holes. Some pages have spots, see pictures. The outside of the Bible is covered with leather and has 2 copper buckles, a copper buckle from the inside is lighter than the other, but has the same rivets, see last photo. Leather is torn off at one point, see pictures. The leaves on the edge are painted all around gold and when the book is closed shimmers the whole 12cm edge in light / sun with beautiful golden color, see pictures. Without light the border is normal gray.
The Bible is old, used and of course has many, some strong signs of wear, see pictures. But it is well preserved for old age
