Measuring 13” by 18”, this 19th century Oil Painting on stretched canvas depicts a small flock of Sheep, relaxing under a flowering tree. Signed in the lower right-hand corner, “W.B. Baird,” this painting is executed by the French-American artist, William Baptiste Baird (1847-1917), who was known for his detailed landscape & farm animal paintings. This 19th century canvas painting has been properly re-lined and the original inscription on the canvas has been transcribed onto the back of the lining. It reads, “Seine-et-Oise” which is an area in France named for the Seine & Oise River.
