antique early 19th Century French Verge Fusee  Ormolu gild bronze Elephant shape desk clock,specially made for the Chinese Qing Dynasty Court in 1800's. Made by Chopard for Escant a Pezenas and distributed to the Chinese market.
On the top of the elephant stands the Earth globe which opens to reveal the clock.
The Elephant clock is a symbol of good luck.

The clock has a top grade hand eleborated verge fusee full plate fire gild movement!! Hand engraved and hand pierced balance cock,highly ornamented.
Fine enamel dial depicting the Chinese Dragon.Original hands. All the parts original.
