It is dated 1825-year letter k. Has a maker's mark for highly important silversmith Joseph Angell.
It is 925 grade purity.
A fabulous antique tureen.
Of oval bellied form,foliate,shall and gadroon border,reeded foliate handle,the domed pull off cover with a foliate capped snake handle,on four foliate capped paw feet.
Diameter is 16 inches. Depth is 11 inches. Height is 11 inches including handle.
Hallmarks are deep and clear. Its weight is a staggering 4254 grams (136.78 troy ounces) and this piece is made of very thick gauge silver throughout.
