WW1 French Army helmet with a period (standard) field over-paint of a darker Horizon blue which has mostly worn away, please study photos. The shell has several (medium to small) dents & clearly has 'been there'. The outside circumference of the shell measures 63.5 cm (at beading) so making this one of the larger ones. It is one of the rarer models made by Japy who welded the sides rather than use the usual two rivets. The leather lining is all good & slightly on the dry-side. One of the finger tips is torn at the lace-hole end. The chinstrap is complete & has clearly not moved from its current position for an extremely long time (probably when it was last used in the war). A great piece of WW1 French history.
