Absolutely fantastic extremely rare antique French 2 tone bronze elephant mantel clock which is in excellent condition. The clock has perfect proportions that gives it a stunning display look and is an extremely rare clock to see,
The patinated bronze elephant stands proudly on its bronze ormolu base with pierced decoration around the edge of the base with 8 superb scrolled feet and a textured design to the top of the base. The elephant has its original patinated bronze finish which is absolutely superb and can only be acquired through age with superb definition to the bones and structure of the elephant with amazing attention to detail including the trunk. The clock also benefits from a patinated bronze monkey figure on all four's by the elephants left foot, Surmounted on the elephant is the drum which encloses the superb original dial and movement, the drum with polished bronze finish with the superb seated patinated bronze boy figure with horse hoof feet holding a pair of musical cymbals. Again the patinated finish to the boy figure is totally original and can only be acquired through age. The top of the drum has ormolu flower garlands each side of the boy figure
The whole case is in outstanding condition for age with no damage and a stunning 2 tone finish to the solid bronze case with the attention to detail second to none and a totally original elephant and monkey clock which is not often seen for sale with a top maker
